During the last week or March, the first returning White Stork, Ospreys and Black Kites have been recorded, whilst on the Baltic coast there are several thousand Scaup and Long-tailed Duck.
Cranes have been arriving in good numbers over the last 2 weeks, with flocks of several hundred at the roost sites. Off the north east coast of Usedom, sightings have included flocks of Slavonian Grebe, Scaup, Common Scoter and Long-tailed Duck. 10 White-tailed Eagles were seen at Karlshagen recently. It has been a good winter for Rough-legged Buzzards and these are still present.
There are flocks of several thousand Eider and Scaup off shore at present and in the north of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern flocks of Bean and White-fronted Geese are up to 2000. Groups of Waxwings have arrived in recent weeks
